"...to them He gave the name Boanerges, which means 'sons of thunder'" (Mark 3:17). This blog is an online soapbox for arrogant, ambitious theology punks. OK, that's a bit facetious...it's really a forum for dialogue among friends (many of whom have been accused of being arrogant, ambitious, punks, or all of the above) regarding biblical studies and considering cultural issues from a christian worldview.

Congrats on the boy Mihelis! You have to name him John.
Congrats, Mihelis! I am actually partial to the name Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz.
I love the suggestions, keep 'em coming. It's pretty likely John will be in there somewhere. Sorry Russell, but your suggestion is probably going to be low on the list :-o Here's some of the current options:
Noah
Connor
Clay
Jeremiah
Andrew (Drew)
If he had been a girl it was definite: Sophia Joy. Needless to say, we've gone back to the drawing board.
Just name him "Big Daddy" -- then there will be no doubt who's in charge.
Congratulations! We are so happy for you both! I'm so glad that you are having the children first so that you can make the mistakes and we don't have to :o) Just kidding; i'm sure you'll do a great job. Just whatever you do, if we have a girl, keep your boy AWAY from her :o)
p.s. I think that Connor, clay and Jeremiah are great... only because we personally like Noah :o) But, don't feel like you can't use it if you're dying to, I mean it is your child after all!
WOW!! so so happy for you guys! that's so awesome!! (can you feel my joy here?!!?) :) weren't you guys originally due end of July...so they moved it?? ok names... I like Andrew (drew) or Connor....but Russell does have a point there....heheheh NOT!! :) congratulations nate!! I'm sure you're exstatic (as is Dawn)!!
by the way: just thought I'd let you know, there's a crib on ebay - pick up only in chesapeake - 4 in 1 convertable for $20!! *hugs* give dawn a squeeze for me!!!
That's exciting Mihelis. A buddy of mine a DBTS just named his son Carson. Congratulations.

Congrats. How about Rudolph Bultmann Mihelis?
Eaaaaasy Bruno! :-)
I think you should name him after a hard-core Reformed Theologian -- Meredith Kline. Enough said.
Congratulations! I excitedly showed Phil how I stumbled onto your blog & that you were having a boy--he immediately said "are they naming him Calvin?" I personally think it works wonderfully with the name John!

Thanks Julie! Good to hear from you. Calvin is a possible middle name, though we don't want to be too overt :-) However John is the front runner for a middle name. The benefit to John is if you allow for sensus plenior, it can refer to (and in descending order of important theologians) John Piper, John Calvin, Jonathan Edwards, John Owen, John Bunyan....you get the idea. It even covers Biblical referents like the Apostle John and John the Baptist. :-)
PS, If we go with Connor his name will actually be Concurrence (ie the reformed doctrine of Providence/Sovereignty) but we'll still call him Connor. However, I think Noah is currently the frontrunner for first name.
Congrats! Jenny and I were so happy find out the good news.
