Barker's Moving Day; My New Hood Ornament

My posts have been and will continue to be somewhat few and far between for the next week or so. As most of you know, it's finals week. Add to that the fact that I start at HSBC on Monday, and my life's a mess. Therefore, rather than post an intellectually stimulating and spiritually edifying treatise, I've opted for something else. For the uninitiated, these pictures are a brief, but representative look into what happens when seminary students' brains exceed the saturation point.

My good friend Tim Barker of Truth on Fire fame, decided that since there wasn't much going on this weekend, it might be a good time to move (they just bought a townhouse...congrat's Tim and Katie!). Seeing I had nothing better to do, I decided to help him, along with several of our buddies. In the process of moving, we ended up strapping the headboard of his bed to the roof rack of my '89 Volvo Wagon resulting in something resembling a cross between a Star Wars Tie Fighter and something out of Spaceballs. Before we left, I was encouraged to "pimp my ride" with one of Katie's (or was it Tim's?) childhood toys as a mascot/hood ornament. Surprisingly, it survived the 20 minute 60+ mph ride. What was it you ask? Check it out below...

How 'bout a close up?

Yes, it's what you think it is...

Here's the close up :-)

Happy Studying!!!

P.S. There were more pictures taken that day, several of which were a bit more "compromising." Keep your eyes open on the blogs on my blogroll and I'm sure something will surface before too long.

I realize there are no limits to what you can do with duct tape, but I can't say I have ever seen a "my little pony" hood ornament, could start a new trend, gives new meaning to the words "horse power" or is it "pony power"? I guess it's not what's under the hood but what's on it! Love the pink mane, must have been something to see blowing in the wind! :-)Love, Mom

Now that's degrading...my own Mom mocking me for "my little pony." :-)
Welcome to the blogosphere! Now get back to the books and start studying!

Love,
Nate

What do you mean "your little pony", I thought you said it was Tim's!:-)Love, Mom

That's right it is Katie's "my little pony." When I wasn't looking and the work of Russell, Baylor, and Mihelis was less than productive. Good thing Mihelis doesn't have a good paint job on his ride! Thanks for the help though...and humor.

I wasn't ever going to bring this up in public, but now seems to be just the right time.

I've actually heard Nate Mihelis singing, "My little pony and me" while jogging with his shirt off, go figure?
Remember Mihelis, there is no hiding who you really are over here at Acorn Grove Apts. I'm like the "All seeing Eye" up in 425 H!! Beware!!
By the way, let me take a look in your trunk and see what CD's your listening to.

I've been looking all weekend for a match here with the horses of the apocalypse. So where does the pink-maned horse fit on your revelation synopsis?

I may have found an answer to Annalisa's query concerning the "pink maned horse of the apocalypse". I think it was in a variance of the Majority Text, it read something like this . . ."And Lo, I looked unto the roadway and saw the fifth horse, and it was blue with a flaming pink mane, and it road upon an old volvo wagon as it was, and all the people fell to their knees and sang as with one voice, 'My little pony, pretty pony', and the multitudes rejoiced and were glad!"

I am crying from laughing so hard!! Wow Nate, I know it's been a while, but I'm glad to see that nothing has changed over the MANY years!!! I'm glad to see you haven't changed - or is that not a good thing? Hmm - I'm picturing your mom singing the song and then you skipping along humming along, and it's just making me laugh so hard! Thanks for the smile :-)
