BJ gives Starbucks the boot!

Reason # 958 why I'm glad BJ's not my alma matta (sp?). Sad, but true; read all about it here.

what in the world is Barnies Coffee? like Barnie Fife or Barnie the Dinosaur? kb (glad at least to read it hasn't been banned! One ridiculous thing at a time is enough.)

I love the last line of that article. I am glad that at least you are still allowed to bring the coffee on campus!

BJU is gay, so why should they care about Starbucks? to superdoopertrooper, it's pretty obvious from your emphasis on BJU's academic excellence that you've swallowed the Camel (Mt 23:24), and a whole lot more.

Thanks for this heads-up. I linked here from my blog and commented a little there.

It's not a matter of picking on a school as much as it is pointing out a legalism that infests the world view. Hopefully it's not a personal issue...and I am sure no one is trying to offend, just trying to point out issues that don't seem to be consistent with the Gospel. After all, a little leaven works through the whole dough.

To "superdoopertrooper"

It seems pretty obvious from your harshness that BJ may have been your "alma mater" (thank you for the clarification). I'm sorry if I hit a sensitive spot.

As far as my personal feelings on the topic, Matthew Wireman has definitely picked up on my heartbeat. My goal is not to pick apart BJ because of their Starbucks boycott. I agree that any school can be picked apart (as can any blogger for typos...even those self-identified :-)and ridiculed for some silly rule or regulation, though I would suggest BJ is especially prone by the abundance of such criteria (as is my alma mater NBBC). However, bear in mind that an "outstanding level of academic excellence" (assuming your assessment is accurate) does NOT excuse Gal 3 style legalism, which is what such "silly rules and regulations" border on.

Let's keep it clean boys. I deleted one of the comments for taking a personal shot at SDT. By clean, I'm not implying anything about profanity or innuendo. I don't mind cheap shots against impersonal institutions, but by "keeping it clean" I'm implying no shots below the belt at individuals.
